All the Things We Love about San Diego as Realtors

San Diego is a paradise. The weather is a balmy 69.8 degrees Fahrenheit, based on annual averages. It is surrounded by world famous beaches on Coronado Island, La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and Del Mar up north. It has a booming downtown district that is never more than 30 minutes from any point in the city. Finally, San Diego hosts one of the largest urban parks in the country along with a sprawling campus housing a dozen different museums. There are numerous hiking trails all over the city and county from the Torrey Pines State Reserve to the formidable Mt. Woodson Summit (or Potato Chip Rock for people who call San Diego home, go on the hike, you will see how it got that nickname).

In short, San Diego is a paradise for single people, young couples, families, and retirees. Therefore, San Diego is a paradise for the intrepid realtor.

Booming Real Estate Market

San Diego, real estate prices, are surging, from average rental rates to property prices. The San Diego Union Tribune reported in February that 23 zip codes hit new price peaks. In San Diego, stories like these are becoming increasingly common as the city struggles to incorporate thousands of new residents a year. In fact, the new median household price surged to over $500,000 last year.

The spike in population and prices has resulted in a surge in new construction. New downtown San Diego condos and apartment complexes are going up all over the city from new developments along the Harbor to sprawling communities in Mission Valley and Pacific Beach. San Diego’s real estate market is booming everywhere.

San Diego is also a top destination for international buyers. Southern California, and San Diego in particular, consistently attract foreign purchasers looking for investments for their cash. So not only does the U.S. market bet on San Diego, but so does the international market. Everyone knows that San Diego prices are going to keep rising until the real estate supply expands to meet demand.

These market conditions present tremendous opportunities for realtors looking for clients to buy or sell their San Diego real estate property.

Buyers, Welcome to Paradise

As if the numerous outdoor activities and the all-around good weather weren't good enough, here are a few more reasons to call San Diego home. San Diego is a healthy growing economy. It has a nine-year unemployment average of under 5%. San Diego hosts a broad range of top-rated industries including biotech, environmental science, defense, healthcare, and technology.

In fact, many employers in San Diego are struggling to find Tier 1 professionals and employees. Many Tier 1 technology, healthcare, and biotech jobs command $92,000 or more for their initial hires. That is several thousand more than the national average. San Diego is a booming economy in need of skilled employees; there is an abundant opportunity here.

San Diego is also one of the most health-conscious cities in the country. San Diego consistently makes Forbes “Top 20 Most Health Conscious Cities” thanks to its abundant outdoor activities outlined above and its wide variety of Farmers’ Markets and year-round sun guarantees long growing seasons for fresh vegetables and fruits.

San Diego is blessed with weekly Farmers’ Markets in many of its neighborhoods from Hillcrest on Sundays to Downtown on Saturdays, and the Linda Vista Market on Thursdays. Every day you can find fresh, local produce somewhere in San Diego county.

San Diego also hosts one of the best school systems in California, with numerous elementary schools and high schools throughout the county. You can get your urban experience in Downtown and, when you are ready to start a family, a short drive to Mira Mesa or Sorrento Valley places you in a healthy suburban setting ideal for raising families. Fifty-one percent of San Diego is suburban which allows it to enjoy the label “big city, small town feel.”
