What was once originally zoned for industrial use only, today is home to over 15,000 residents.
 
Overall this family friendly neighborhood is well maintained, clean, and offers plenty of walking areas (specifically along Sorrento Valley Rd near highways 15, 5, and 805).
 
Interesting Fact: In 2011 the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced plans to move into a $100 million, six-story building in Sorrento Valley. The now FBI Field Office houses over 400 special agents and support staff.

Sorrento Valley is a central location in San Diego that’s surrounded by lush beautiful landscapes and offers its residents plenty of amenities with quick and easy access to much more due to its close proximity to popular areas nearby.
 
The neighborhood falls under the community planning areas that belong to Mira Mesa, Torrey Pines, and University and is famous for its many high tech, biotech, IT companies and scientific research. A few of the major companies in Sorrento Valley include: Qualcomm, Verizon, Google Inc., Texas Instruments, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, and the FBI.
 
There are a few great restaurants (mostly fast food joints), a couple of grocery stores and a few great cafe’s nearby.
